Nuno Matos is the Chief Executive Officer and an Executive Director of ANZ, appointed on 12 May 2025. With more than 30 years of international banking experience, Nuno has held senior leadership roles across retail, commercial and wholesale banking in markets including Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, the United States, Spain, France, Brazil, Mexico and Peru.
Before joining ANZ, Nuno served as CEO of Wealth and Personal Banking at HSBC, leading a global business of 87,000 employees and approximately 40 million customers across 35 markets. His previous roles at HSBC included CEO of HSBC Bank plc and HSBC Europe, CEO of HSBC Mexico, and senior leadership positions across Latin America. Prior to HSBC, Nuno built a distinguished career at Santander, culminating as Global Head of Consumer in its Retail and Commercial Division.
Nuno began his career at the Banco de Portugal as an analyst in the banking supervision department. He holds a BBA and an MBA in Finance from the Universidade Católica Portuguesa.
